MFR 107: Reality Check, a More Objective Perspective on the Miles You Run

One of my favorite quotes is the simple cliche, “Everything is relative.” I express it often because it has such a profound effect on virtually everything, and remembering it, keeping it in mind, has the potential to massively impact our perspective on everything from miles we run to all the rest of our lives.

Runners always struggle with keeping their mileage in perspective. It’s easy for a marathoner to feel like three  miles is a waste of time, but when they hadn’t ever run even two miles, three miles seemed like a marathon – perspective.

As with every aspect of life, I always want to appreciate all the little steps along the way that got me to my bigger goals and that got me to where I am, today. I want to express and enjoy maximum appreciation of every event and every person, of my accomplishments and their accomplishments. In fact, it occurs to me as I write this that a large element of wisdom is maintaining perspective.

This podcast is about determining how many miles is worth going out the door and about keeping your running mileage in a realistic perspective.
