Veteran Runners: This group is for all levels of runners looking for coaching and a team-like atmosphere. Most people are amazed at how much difference it makes when they start working with a coach. Sometimes people who've been running for years start my programs and are thrilled when after just a few weeks they achieve a PR they have been long pursuing.
You'll enjoy training and competing in goal races together. Runners in this group range from people who have completed a couple of 5k's on up to marathoners. At any given time at least half the group are training for half marathons.
We spend a good bit of time on form and technique. Just a slight tweak to your form can translate into a faster pace. Emphasis is on getting into a sensible training pattern that will nurture improvement, prevent injuries, and build endurance. Tuesday and Thursday workouts consist of a warmup, some combination of speedwork/tempo running/drills, and cool down for a total of about five miles.
Become a Runner Group and Beginning Runner Group: Virtually anybody can become a runner. Seriously, last season the people on "The Biggest Loser" ran a marathon. Don't worry, I won't be pushing for that, but I do think you'll be ready for a 5k in several months. That's up to you, though. No pushing from me. That's not my style. I'm here to help you reach your goal, whatever that goal is. If you just want to run for fitness, that's fine with me.
I will provide encouragement, but I will never push you beyond your comfort level. It's all about starting where you are now, fitness-wise, and moving forward gradually, but consistently. You will find it so much easier to do it with a group of people who are working together to become runners.
This will be a life-changing experience for some. For others, it will be an achievement that enhances their life in a whole variety of ways. You may be looking for fitness and/or weight loss, but what you'll get is so much more, and I feel fortunate to share the experience with you.
